Adoption Process

Animal Adoption Process

Thinking of adding another family into your home? Remember, owning a pet means providing essentials such as a balanced diet, litter, socialization and veterinary care. Please follow the steps below to be considered an applicant for one of our Rescues available for adoption.

You are more than welcome to tour our facility, to have a quick glance at some of the dogs available for adoption and what we have to offer.

The adoption process officially begins once you have filled out an application. This can be done by paper copy in clinic, or online at www.safeandsoundproject.com

Your application will be reviewed, and if it matches the pet’s needs, you will be invited to schedule a 1st viewing. This is a good chance to go over our adoption fees, any questions you may have, and to see who we have available. You can create a list of names of the dogs that catch your eye. If you would like to continue on with the process, let us know so we can inform an adoption coordinator. They will give you a call to booking in a 2nd viewing with them. If you are scheduled in for a 2nd viewing appointment and one of the dogs you had listed is adopted before your appointment, you will receive a phone call to let you know. You can then decide if you would like to keep your appointment, or cancel at that time.

*It is important to remember that we have multiple people going through the process at all times, so dogs you see on your 1st viewing may not still be available for adoption by the time you have your second viewing* For this reason, it is suggested not to bring children until the 2nd viewing appointment.

2nd viewings are a great opportunity to spend 1 on 1 time with a few of the dogs that had caught your eye at your 1st viewing. It is also a great opportunity to bring in children, or any pets existing in the home etc. If all goes well at this viewing, you may be approved for adoption and a go home date will be set!

Thank you for considering adopting with us!

*If you are looking to apply for a cat rescue, you can find the feline adoption application here! Process still remains the same for cat adoptions.
